Negro Matapacos was a Chilean dog that acquired notoriety due to his participation in the street protests that took place in Santiago de Chile during the 2010s. Among his characteristics was his black fur and the red scarf that was tied around his neck. During the protests in Chile in 2019, the image of Negro Matapacos acquired notoriety again due to his attitude during street demonstrations, appearing on various posters, stickers, murals and sculptures of papier-mâché, and even requesting to install a statue of the dog. During the mass fare-dodging that took place on November 1 of the same year in the New York subway, different stickers appeared in the stations of that city with the image of Negro Matapacos jumping a turnstile.
