Please hit 'Like' If you 'Like' thanks. This is a Matrix Staircase similar to one I designed for a client years ago on a £1 million extention to an existing property in County Wicklow in Ireland. The 3 x 10mm mild steel gable plates (stringers) are laser-cut with the 'Zig-Zag' profile. 1 x Inboard to wall and the other 2 x outboard with a 30x30mm SHS (box section) between to support 20mm toughened glass. The glass will rest on a mat of soft membrane or plastic shims and bonded in place with an industrial glue. In this particular stair case assembly, I have used 3 x 20mm laminated toughen smoked brown glass (60mm) thick treads. Below the staircase is a featured fish pond c/w coloured neon lighting, but this could also be an indoor plant bed. There are also a series of hidden spot lamps attached to the inside face of the 'Zig-Zag' Stringers to enhance the mood lighting. From experience of having glass made & cut to my .dxf's a 10mm to18mm thick panel of glass approx 1 metre wide and supplied with grind 'Aris' safety edge (chamfered) will cost from £200-400. Whilst the curved glass can be 7 to 10 times that amount. Curved glass is expensive. I have decided I will make this 1 x Bedroom Penthouse apartment an ongoing project and add in more walls, furniture, rooms etc... later. The top floor comprises of 1 x Bedroom, 1 x Bathroom (Centre) and 1 x open plan Office with spare visitor bed area. below this is luxury kitchen and large living room with all the 'Man cave' needs. That's the plan. '...ish'
