Inspired by this guy and his low melt METAL molds,http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:26500 and some to this guy for starting me on the codinghttp://www.thingiverse.com/thing:31581 and this guy, for taking it to the next level (HiTemp-LostPLA)http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:82176 I chose this scan of a Mayan calender because it has a incredible amount of detail and I want to see how much sticks. Plus this started as a 3D scan (by someone else) and I want to learn ways to apply those scans. This 3D scan was massive, it choked my computer so hard I did most of my mold making with a blob the same size, so my render wouldn't take 1/2hr v1 is meant to print flat, - quick and easy v2, meant to print standing up to get better detail, but will take longer to print, and another just like it with supports. (those are not peace signs) I have more low melt molds coming soon. If printed in something flexible, this mold could be used as a Chocolate or Soap Mold with no problem. Please Try it :-) v1 on both seems a little shallow at small scale, (see printed mold2 w/o supports) so I made a deeper one for mold2, this time. For this deep I am going to use the supports. for my first print, I printed verticle-square-no supports. came out fast and proper. Instructions select mold. If you want quick, use m1 (its round) If you want best resolution, use m2 with supports. Load and rotate, I use replicatorG if m1, make it center, face up, largest scale you can. if m2, make it center, and put the arms to the ground...like a peace sign Settings I am still working on that. i will let you know. Plastic use ABS if you can, higher melt point, I am using PLA to start. if you want to do soap/chocolate/candles (this shape would make a poor candle) try this materialhttp://www.makergeeks.com/flsofi.html No I have no yet tried HIPS or PVA After Print Follow direction for the type of low-melt metal...or chocolate, soap, whatever. Pour Cool Remove (to dissolve abs/pla acetone bath, for HIPS use Limone, for PVA you can use water.
