I've developed a personalized model specifically for my showreel, which began as an exercise in texturing and modeling hard surface objects in ZBrush. However, I found myself using it primarily to block out the main shapes, after which I employed Maya's Poly/Nurbs modeling tools for remeshing and modeling, before finishing off with Painter for texturing purposes.
