Mechanical Movement-7

The text describes a mechanism that allows for engagement, disengagement, and reversal of an upright shaft situated to the left. The belt is positioned on one out of three lower pulleys, a or b, with the middle pulley being loose. No motion is transferred if the belt is on this free pulley. However, when the belt moves onto the left-hand pulley that's fixed to the hollow shaft 'b', carrying bevel gear 'B', it transmits motion in one direction to the upright shaft. Conversely, if the belt shifts onto the right-hand pulley, motion is transmitted through gear 'A' attached to shaft 'a' (inside shaft 'b'), thereby reversing the direction of the upright shaft.
