Mechanical Tommy Gun Prop

<p>Inspired by the iconic weaponry in the godfather, I modeled and printed one of the prop Tommy guns based on set and movie images.</p><p>there are three interactable aspects of the design.<br>the trigger sits on a pivot and is tensioned by a rubber band allowing for a movable realistic trigger mechanism.</p><p>the reload bolt is movable and can be snapped back through a rail and anchor system.</p><p>The drum magazine is removable and can be clicked in to allow for fast movement with the prop.</p><p>*Note: below is a link to a video that showcases the painting and operation of the mechanical pieces. sadly the assembly footage was corrupted. If this model gets enough support I will post a video showcasing the assembly process as well as some basic weathering.</p><p>https://youtu.be/zHSeDONOYXo</p><p><br>The print settings vary from piece to piece. I personally printed the models using PLA however ABS would be recommended for those wanting a toy that can be thrown around and not break.<br>Despite using Pla I had no issues with the strength of the print but rather had issues with the glue I used to assemble the model.</p><p>I would recommend printing smaller pieces at a high resolution and medium infill to ensure strength.<br>For larger pieces using a lowered resolution and low infill is very effective for high quality and high-speed prints.</p><p>*Note: the parts are low tolerances. For printers that cannot meet high tolerances, manual sanding will be needed to make pieces fit together.</p>
