Game/VR/AR ready low-poly model of a medieval great helm with 2K PBR-textures built to real-world scale (metric system). The model has two texture set variants, a used but undamaged one, and an alternative battered and slightly rusted texture set. The medieval great helm (also called pot helm, bucket helm and barrel helm) became fashionable among knights and men-at-arms across Europe at the beginning of the 13th century and remained popular until at least the mid-14th century. It eventually evolved into the frog-mouth helm. The great helm was worn with cloth padding and often also with a mail coif or a steel cap underneath. The great helm provided excellent protection compared to earlier helmets, but it also limited the wearer's vision and could in warm weather contribute to overheating. As a result, it was common for knights and men-at-arms to only wear the great helm when charging or while at risk from enemy missile attacks, but otherwise to let it hang in a strap to provide better visibility, trusting the mail coif or metal cap to protect the head in melee combat. The model and PBR-textures are prepared for use with Unity 5 and Unreal Engine 4, but can easily be adapted to other game engines, or other uses. The model was created using Blender and Substance Painter. Preview images were rendered with Iray. Polygon Count 2655 vertices 3079 faces 5434 triangles File Formats Autodesk FBX (.fbx)* OBJ (.obj) Collada (.dae) 3D Studio (.3ds) Blender (.blend) *There are three different FBX-files, one standard PBR MetalRough, one for Unity and one for Unreal (the last two have triangulated faces). Materials & Textures The model is UV-mapped and has a single material. The material has three sets of physics based textures (each in two different variants), one for PBR MetalRough, one for Unity 5 (metallic workflow) and one for Unreal Engine 4. The textures are not baked into the model, but are saved as png-files with a resolution of 2048 x 2048 pixels (8 bits) in the zip-file PBR textures and the subfolders PBR textures, Unity textures, Unreal textures, PBR textures battered, Unity textures battered and Unreal textures battered: PBR textures & PBR textures battered: Medieval great helm_Metal_BaseColor.png Medieval great helm_Metal_Height.png Medieval great helm_Metal_Metallic.png Medieval great helm_Metal_Normal.png Unity textures & Unity textures battered: Medieval great helm_Unity_Metal_AlbedoTransparency.png Medieval great helm_Unity_Metal_MetallicSmoothness.png Medieval great helm_Unity_Metal_Normal.png Unreal textures & Unreal textures battered: Medieval great helm_Unreal_Metal_BaseColor.png Medieval great helm_Unreal_Metal_Normal.png Medieval great helm_Unreal_Metal_OcclusionRoughnessMetallic.png
