Medium Pet Door Wall Frame

Medium Pet Door Wall Frame

Our kitten is a year old now, and not a kitten anymore! I originally designed the [Small Pet Door Wall Frame](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1729360) so our cat could go from the house to the garage, where his litter box is located. Now he is too big for that little door, so I redesigned the frame for the medium Ideal Pets pet door, with a 7" x 11.5" opening. The Ideal Pet door is a quality product with a vinyl flap and lock-out slide, and runs about $22 from many retailers. Out of the box, the door telescopes to 2" and is designed to be installed in a door. This 3D printed frame extends the range to about 6" to 7" so it can be installed in a wall instead. The frame is printed in two parts so it can be printed on a 200 x 200 mm print bed. One of the dimensions is 204 mm, but most 200 mm beds are actually a little wider (mine is 214 mm), so you may need to increase the dimensions of your print area to > 205 mm before printing the frame. I printed the frame with 0.3 mm layers and 30% infill. This design also includes six braces to improve the strength of the design. The mounting screws put the frame under tension along its weak axis, which can cause it to split over time. In this design, the tension is transferred to the braces, which are printed such that the tension is applied along the strong axis.
