Meigle merman frieze

Nikon D5500 photo test of Miegle 22 – an architectural fragment with a frieze of a merman accompanied by 2 clawed beasties that resides in the Meigle Sculptured Stone Museum, Perth and Kinross, Scotland. It is one of 27 carved Pictish stones found in the Meigle village churchyard. Miegle 22 is sculpted from local old red sandstone and is bracketed by a moulded frame that indicates it was once part of a decorative string-course in a church possibly dating around 9th-10th centuries AD. The merman’s legs entwine and terminate in fish-tails which also suggests it could be a siren. Plate CXXXII from The Sculptured Stones of Scotland vol. 1, (1856) depicts it with a blank face, but faint details of eyes and a nose can be seen in my model.
