As many guys I started with a Mendel90. My printer was bulit according nophead github files with some changes due to parts availability. If you print PLA all is fine but when starting with ABS or other stuff a very small smell of a wind can destroy your print. I looked on thingiverse and in several online resources but nothing was appropriate to cover the Dibond version. Ok, my printer frame is from 3mm aluminium sheets but there is no difference in general. As I am not using any 300mm spool the customised holder is a bit smaller and we can use one of the holes of the origin holder for the covers. If you want to use the big ones please consider the spool holder to be app. 50mm higher. The enclosed holder is designed for a 12mm rod. Nonetheless I use it for an 8mm rod with a bearing spool holder. The filament guide rod was a 3/8" carbon tube from kiting. Please use whatever you find ;). The guide has been mounted backwards to ensure that the PTFE tubing is always running as a nice bow to the extruder. The cover plates are made from corrugated cardbox material. Of course, you can use Dibond, Acrylic or something similar with 3mm thickness but cardbox is the cheapest. The only parts which I designed are covers and the small end caps itself. The remaining parts are taken from the things mentioned under remix. A suitable front housing with doors you can find here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:755654 Update 2017-03-22: As I was out for a longer time here now the last update. Some pictures will follow within next month. Changes for V1.2: End cap now scaled correctly. As I have had issues with entangled filament I changed holding of the spools to a bearing supported version. Since then no problems anymore. The part spool holder was customised and will fit to many spools (may be all between 500g and 1kg). Update 2015-04-06: Just did some small corrections on the cover plates due to copy-paste issues. -> V1.1 Instructions You need for the cover: 5 fixing block.stl 1 rear fixing block.stl 17 pcs. cap screw M4x16 1 pc. cap screw M4x20 for the rear fixing block 17 pcs. washer M4 x 9mm x 0.8mm 1 set cover plates see PDF or DWG 2 holes 4.5mm on left rear frame as per attached drawing. You need for the filament guide: 1 filamentfuehrung.stl 1 rod app. dia. 8-9mm L=308mm 2 pcs. cap screw M3x10 2 pcs. washer M3 x 7mm x 0.5mm 2 holes 3.5mm into the frames to be drilled as per your need You need for the filament holder: 2 filament_holder_20150322-final.stl 4 pcs. cap screw M4x16 8 pcs. washer M4 x 9mm x 0.8mm 4 pcs. nyloc nut M4 1 rod app. dia. 12 L=336mm 4 holes 4.5mm into the frames to be drilled as per your need V1.2: You need for the spool holder: 2 spool_holde_dia60_dia40_h17.stl 3 clip.stl 2 bearings 608 (from old spool holder;) 1 (threaded) rod 8mm L=336mm instead of the 12mm from the filament holder You need for the fan guard: 1 fan guard.stl 4 pcs. nut M4 to fix the origin screws (longer screws might be required in case the fan is mounted) 2 pcs. wing nut M4 to fix the 2nd fan guard 1 small piece of active carbon filter material from a cooker hood Just use the printed guard as sketch for the filter and do the holes with a soldering iron. All parts to be printed with 50% infill . Depending on the size of the washers used for levelling the print bed it might be necessary to change the end position of the firmware (mostly in configuration.h) from #define Y_MAX_POS 100 to #define Y_MAX_POS 98 to avoid contact between bed and back cover.
