Mendelmax 3 X axis motor protector and stabilizer.
thingiverse
I'm just finishing up my sleek new Mendelmax 3. The X axis motor, which is attached to that robust 20x60 rail from a piece of precision-cut steel, looked somewhat unpolished in its bare form, aesthetically speaking - the exposed mounting really detracted from the printer's overall finesse. So I built a protective shell to surround it, giving my printer a more streamlined appearance and shielding the steel mount from any accidental belt tightening that might come its way. While it might be overkill, it alleviates some of my concerns about its safety and gives the entire setup a sleeker look that I'm quite pleased with - there's even a gap for running motor cables through the 20x60 rail if you choose to go that route. Print the file. Collect a couple M5-8 bolts and some rail nuts. Put them together according to your needs.
