Mercedes-Benz Logo Hood Ornament (Two Part)

This is a better hood ornament clone than others on thingiverse, but still not the best. This is one of my first models, so please don't expect it to be that great. I couldn't find a good Mercedes hood ornament without supports that I could sit on my desk, look 3D printed, but still similar to the real thing. The tolerances between the parts were small, so sanding may be required and glue is not necessary to keep them together. This was very simple to make, it only took five minutes. You can fit it together and keep it as-is, or paint it silver. You can find how I made it in the other section. Print Settings Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 mm Infill: 30% Notes: Printed in silver ABS with heated bed at 90C on Da Vinci 1.0A. Warping occurred at any bed temperature under 90. Sliced with Slic3r and g-code hosted by R-H (Repetier-Host). Post-Printing Just used sandpaper to lightly sand inside hole of the base. You can also acetone-smooth (if using ABS) or spray paint it silver. How I Designed This You can use this process to make almost any 3D model from a .png image. To make it, I found and cropped an image of the mercedes logo from Google. I removed the background and made it transparent in Preview on my Mac. I then converted the file to a .svg and imported it into Tinkercad. I made it thicker, added the connection cylinder, and created the base with a half-sphere with a hole just bigger than the connector on the logo part. After, I smoothed both parts in blender. I imported into R-H and printed both parts in one print on my Da Vinci 1.0A and slid the parts together after light sanding. Find my recommended print settings in instructions tab.
