Mercury is a major roman god, symbollic of financial gain, commerce, eloquence, messages/communication, travelers, boundaries, luck, trickery and thieves; he is also the guide of souls to the underground. He is often depicted with sandals to represent his travelling spirit but is also more famous for wearing a hat with wings. This marble sculpture was created by Joseph Nollekens in the 18th Century and is on permanent display at the Usher Gallery in Lincoln, England. This object is part of "Scan The World".
