This model was built for use in video animation. The Messerschmitt BF-109 was originally conceived as a defensive interceptor but over its long carrier was called on to do many other missions. It began production in the early 1930s at the time Germany was just re-emerging as a military power under Hitler. It continued as the backbone of the Luftwaffe through the Civil War in Spain and then throughout World War II. More than 33,600 were produced making it the most produced fighter in history. It was modified many times during its career and remained the foremost produced defensive fighter in Germany until the end of WWII. It also saw service through the many theaters of operation where Luftwaffe aircraft fought.
