This is my design to use an old Metabo drill with Makita 18V LXT batteries. My old Metabo drill is in good condition, but the old NiCd 12V batteries are bad and it's expensive to buy new ones. So I decided to make an adapter to use my Makita 18V Batteries. Remarks: - Additionally to my design you also need the Battery Mount from GPlatek: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:352094 and the Battery Terminal Connector from mojo_replica: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:863257 - My Metabo drill is originally designed for 12V batteries, but it runs perfectly with 18V. Before you proceed, check if your tool can handle the 18V - I am not responsible for any damages! - To protect your Makita batteries from getting deep discharged you need a protection circuit - I used this one: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B07NYMZ4KD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I've set mine to cut off the power supply to the drill when the battery voltage goes under 13V. My adapter is designed to fit with this circuit board. - I also designed a small adapter to put between the terminal connector and the base plate, so that it fits tight. - You need to cut off the upper part of an original Metabo NiCd battery. It has to be glued to the adapter. I only glued one half of the original battery case to my adapter, so that I still can open it if this will be necessary. - You also need 4x M4 screws with corresponding nuts and 2x M3 screws with corresponding nuts and some wires. - For my adapter no supports are needed, but for the battery mount you need supports. You most likely know if you need it. Good luck and have fun! I hope it helps you to continue to use your old Metabo tool without having to buy new batteries.
