This cutting blade was a great training instrument for scanning thin objects: it was fixed in place in a vertical position, to make sure it did not move during scanning, and placed on an A4 sheet of paper with text – this ensured smooth tracking over the thin edge. Erasable markers were put on the flat areas of the blade to differentiate between the two sides. Dulling spray was used to coat the otherwise reflective surface.
