Methane - CH4

Methane - CH4

sketchfab

Black = Carbon White = Hydrogen In this model, it depicts covalent molecular bonding with Methane. There are three of the Methane molecules shown, and the intermolecular bonding is omitted as to display the weakness of it in comparison to the strong covalent intramolecular bonding between the Hydrogen and Carbon atoms. Methane is a non-polar molecule, as the tetrahedral structure assists in balancing the charge, and Hydrogen and Carbon do not have a very large difference in charge. This model is also suitable to an extent, as it clearly represents where the intramolecular bonds are within the molecule, however in a real molecule, those bonds would not be able to be seen, and thus the model is slightly inaccurate. Moreover, the model is not a real depiction of the size of the model, however it displays the format of the elements in the correct structure. It also doesn’t give the real amount of molecules that would be present, and the spacing between the molecules would be different from the model.
