Metric Nut Spinners

Metric Nut Spinners

thingiverse

Set of metric nut spinners (M3, M4, M5 and M6), with optional handle. Printed with ABS the sizes should provide an interference fit for nuts, allowing the spinner to carry the nut into equipment for attaching to threaded bolts. Due to the expansion characteristics of individual filaments the user might need to adjust their scaling at the point of printing if they find the nut sizes aren't perfect. All spinners (and handle) have a central hole throughout the length which is a clearance fit for the corresponding metric thread size. This allows the nut spinners to work with any length of threaded bar - normal nut spinners and sockets tend to be limited to the depth they can operate. Use of the handle is optional - it is intended to provide an extended reach NOT increase tightening pressure. Once the nut is located in position it is expected that other tools would be used to provide final tightening. Not shown or obvious - the octagonal base of each nut spinner provides a hole (interference fit) to capture the shank of an aluminium rivnut. These rivnuts can be extremely useful in the world of 3D printing because they allow a precise machined thread to be positioned in a printed object and can ensure a perfectly aligned thread - this can be easier than trying to provide cutouts for nuts. Instructions Created using TinkerCad.
