metric pvc-pipe spoolholder

thingiverse

the spool-holders here on thingiverse so far where all designed around pvc pipes of various imperial sizes - this design addresses that :-) build from a standard drainpipe piece with 40mm outer diameter a bit of wood, both cut to length and from the same hardware store :-) simple/lean design, quick to print and assemble - and allows super fast filament change (no center hub to unscrew/mount) Instructions needed parts: one pvc-pipe: outer diameter 40mm (inner diameter 36mm) one piece of wood 39mm wide and 4.5mm thick (mine was sold as 40mm x 5mm x 1000mm) four roller-skate bearings (608) assembly: print both parts times four from the pipe cut two pieces - for example 9cm in length cut two pieces of wood - eg 18cm first push the bearing in the sleave and the holder on the piece of wood then push the bearing assembly onto the holder (the holder might fail otherwise) align each pair of bearing holder on the two wood pieces mount the pipe pieces Note: pipe pieces with 9cm length and the wood pieces with 18cm worked for the most common spools i have lying around; these parameters might need to be adjusted to whatever spoolsize you mostly use
