Customized version of http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:931685 Created with Customizer! http://www.thingiverse.com/apps/customizer/run?thing_id=931685 Hello This is a very early version of my Y6 hexacopter based on the multicopter frame inspired by Benedikt Haak's dream catcher quadcopter frame. How I Designed This Frame I have used the thingyverse customizer to generate a standard Micro Tricopter frame. Then I have used 123D design and 3D builder to double this frame by copy/paste I have also added some reinforcement to make it stiffer. This is not a double deck frame. Upper motor mounts will be on the "front frame" and lower motor mounts will be installed in the "back frame". There are 2 versions of the frame at the moment; V2 is the standard one. V3 version is almost the same, except that there is a lower plate so that you can fit an front cam on it for FPV Upper Motor Mounts I use the motor mounts of the original design for the upper motors (just shortened a little). I plan to use slide the motor mount into the frame then rotate it to keep it in place The 2 "shoulders" on the side of the part at the bottom should maintain the motor mount in place once rotated. (I will add real photos and make some adjustments as soon as I have printed the first model) Lower Motor Mounts I have heavily modified the motor mounts of the original design for the lower motor mounts (added to some "shoulders"). I plan to use slide the motor mount into the frame then rotate it to keep it in place using the same as the one use for the upper motor mounts The extra "shoulders" on the side of the parts should maintain the motor mount in place once rotated. Please bear in mind that this motor mount will seat upside down. Legs I am not happy yet with the design of the legs but it is mandatory to put some. Otherwise you will land on the bottom propellers Custom Section Extra Hardware needed I had planned to use the electronic from the Cheerson CX 33 to get the controller board and the motors.I would need to invert polarity on the motors as the Cheerson is using a gearbox and I plan to go direct drive. However, dur to a recent change in Cheerson CX 33 communication protocol, I cannot use a real transmitter anymore (Devo 7e with deviation Tx).. So I will probably go for the Eachine 32bits F3 Brushed FCB Based On SP RACING F3 EVO (or something similar):http://www.banggood.com/Eachine-32bits-F3-Brushed-Flight-Control-Board-Based-On-SP-RACING-F3-EVO-For-Micro-FPV-Frame-p-1076530.html?utmid=1006 And some 8520 brushed shaolin motors; If I refer to screenshot from cleanflight. i probably need 4 CW motors and 2 CCW motors (to be confirmed) Regarding the propellers I believe that the following ones should work: Walkera QR Ladybird Bladeshttp://www.banggood.com/Wholesale-Walkera-QR-Ladybird-Spare-Parts-Main-Blades-Propellers-QR-Ladybird-Z-01-p-46561.html or These ones would look good but I don't know how efficient they can be: 3-Leaf Blade for Hubsan X4 H107L H107C H107D http://www.banggood.com/H108C-31A-3-Leaf-Blade-Propeller-for-HubsanX4-JJRC-H108C-H6C-CX-30-p-970931.html http://www.banggood.com/Hubsan-Upgraded-3-Leaf-Propellers-for-H107L-H107C-H107D-p-970384.html or (if you dare to put big propellers) 75mm DIY Mini Micro RC Quadcopter Blade Propeller Prop 2CW+2CCWhttp://www.banggood.com/RC-Quadcopter-Spare-Parts-Blade-Propeller-Prop-2CW2CCW-p-1051021.html (mostly because I may need to use some inverted)
