Micro Quad Racing Gate

Micro Quad Racing Gate

Unlike my first design, this time I wanted gates that were totally 3D Printed (because, you know, 3D Printer!). The only items needed that aren't 3D Printed are 1/4"x1/4"x1/4" Neodymium Magnets which cost about 20 cents each on ebay (and I'm sure multiple other venues). The magnet is a press fit, but obviously can be glued in as well. The reason for the magnet is that most open doorways (at least around here) have a metal corner around the perimeter. Also, the magnets stick to drop ceilings. Who knows what else you might find to stick them to (appliances, etc). The gate itself is 300mmx300mmx7mm, which easily fits on my CR-10s 3D printer. If you're going to resize anything, keep in mind the 7mm thickness on the gate as it relates to the hangers and stand. I included a few different lengths of stands and hangers, but everything is press fit. Easy to take apart, easy to store! :p I'd recommend PLA Plus or better (PETG), just because PLA can tend to be a little more brittle (I used PLA Plus). I'm presuming that, like me, you won't always make it through the gate! Once again, this is posted on my blog on RCGroups, and I lurk there all the time... https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?3231185-3D-Printed-Micro-Quad-Racing-Gates&perpage=100#post41158827 Update: Because I found a wall here that has a little flange(?) at the corner, I added a second corner bracket which has some clearance right at the corner. Be aware, I'm still not 100% happy with this particular piece. I'll probably have to add another set of magnets to it to stop it from drooping... Update: Either of the first two corner brackets are fine on an appliance or whatever, and since they take less time and use only two magnets, I'd use them whenever possible. That said, they just weren't holding to the corner of a wall well enough. So, I've added a third corner bracket. It used four magnets and takes longer to print. Got to do what you got to do, eh? Of course you still want to make these in sets of two (or three if you're going to crash into them a lot). Update: I added dimples to each of the hangers to keep the gate in tighter when you crash. I left the original ones up because they work and uploaded a version of each with "dimple" in the name to show the difference. Update: I keep making add-ons for this. Rather than linking to everything here, just click on my name and take a look at my designs...
