Microcosm: C. elegans, King of the Worms

<p>This is a display model of <i>Caenorhabditis elegans</i> Maupas 1900, one of the most frequently studied species in genetics, transcriptomics, and even behaviorial biology . This nematode is related to other ecdysozoans (molting animals) such as tardigrades, kinorhynchs and arthropods. I modelled a hermaphrodite individual, without the male tail fin.</p><p>The model is best printed lying down, with some supports being needed for printing. It is designed to be mounted on a 13mm (⌀ 4.6 mm) nail.
