MICROMETER HOLDER

MICROMETER HOLDER

This holder is sized to clamp a micrometer that is between 5/16 and 7/16 thick at the spine. This is thick and would not be ideal for a proper mic by Starrett without some filler like leather. I sized it for a low end Harbor Freight digital mic you see in the photo. It could hold up to 1/2 inch but it's a stretch. You could improve the bolt clamp but it's easy to work as is. I clamp the mic and it rides the bench while my A tools are put away to stay clean. -Print the Pin horizontal with bed support so it's strong in the correct plane. -Print the Base in it's common plane. -Print the Clamp on it's side so the flex points are strong in the correct plane. -As with many of my models you will need to drill (ream) the hole and/or sand the pin a tiny bit to get a good fit. Not all printers are the same and we want a friction fit.
