Microphone Shock Mount

Microphone Shock Mount

I made this shock mount for my Samson Q2U microphone, which has a slightly tapered body diameter of ~31-32 mm. The elastic bands are just black silicone hair bands. My mic is mounted on a straight boom arm which is mounted to the edge of my desk. In the regular mount that shipped with the mic, taps on my desk surface and keyboard were transmitted through the desk and boom to the mic body and were picked up quite noticeably by the mic. The shock mount works very well at dramatically reducing these types of noises, and overall the background noise from the mic is reduced.
