Microsphone - A "pocket microscope" phone camera mount

thingiverse

This is a simple pocket microscope mount that I needed to take pictures of a micro-nozzle we 3d printed in SLA in the lab. [YES, I used a 3d printer to make a part to check my 3d prints!] It could, however, be used for the same purpose a microscope camera is used for. I shared some pictures I took of "common stuff" to showcase its capabilities. In the order shown: 1. Overall phone adaptor picture, 2. Ground tea (Chimarrão tea) dust particles on table, 3. LED wire connections to the die, 4. Pixels of my tablet, 5. Tiny ant. It should be quite adaptable to most phones (especially the ones that have a camera centered in the back), and for my phone it stands still on the table (It doesn't tip over, I mean). You can find this microscope at Amazon (that's the one I have and probably this design won't work for a different one, unfortunately =/) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LAX52IQ/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I used a 3/8" x 3/4" spring to keep the hinge clamping. I confess I could have used a stronger one, but the design turned out to be ok this way so I didn't change it. I published the original Inventor files if you wanna modify the spring hole mounts, though. If you found it sufficiently useful to actually print one, I'd love to see images you took with it!
