Minecraft Ore Lamp Cube Block - Red Stone / Diamond / Gold / ect.

A cube that you print and assemble to create a minecraft ore lamp. Using different LEDs, you can use red for red stone, yellow for gold ore, and blue for diamond ore. If you know someone who likes minecraft, they will love this! My kids do! Works with any 1W or 3W "Star" type LED... Use different colors for different ores! I have red too, but didn't get a picture of it! Turn several of them on in a dark room and you get an awesome collage of 8 bit colors all over the walls and ceiling! Please don't use anything larger than 3W as they get very hot and may cause a hazard. I think 1W works great and 3W is a bit over kill. Instructions Print the top, side one twice and side 2 twice. Glue both side 1 and side 2 to the top creating a sort of pyramid. Invert the second side 1 and 2 so the patterns don't match up and glue them opposite the original side 1 and 2 so you now have a cube without a bottom. You need a 1W or 3W "Star" type LED in your preferred color. There is a recess in the bottom piece to mount the LED. Heat stake the LED into place (melt the plastic post that the LED slides in between with a soldering pen and squish down the plastic, locking the LED into place) This was designed to use a battery holder with a switch. The part number for the battery holder I used is SBH-321AS. This is for 2 AA batteries which output roughly 3.2V, so purchase an LED accordingly or use a resistor to obtain proper voltage. Solder the battery holder to the LED and then glue the bottom to the cube you glue together out of the other sides. Put batteries in it and snap the battery holder into the base. Flip it on and see the kids ooh and ahhh over it! I got this idea from MaximFilms and his Minecraft Diamond ore lamp thing # 37173... I was working with his trying to get things to work with the LED and the battery holder I had. I wound up starting from scratch and completely re-drew the entire model. But Kudos goes to him for the inspiration!
