This is one of my earlier large robot prints. The splitting of the robot is done in a not yet worked out manner. It is quite fragile, but uses way less resources than most of the other robot models I publish here …

This one also is a 75cm filament print. This one is based on the late 1970's / early 1980's cartoon series “Flash Gordon”. The robots are called “Ming's Metal Men” and are the minions of the evil emperor Ming.

The original 3D model was designed by an artist on Fiverr for me. I don't have any art skilles in my genes. So I am happy when some artist can create the models for me … Nevertheless I want to share these with other robot enthusiasts like me.

Full credit for the robot design and the 3D model goes to the artist on Fiverr.

The 3D model of this robot was designed by “dasunmadushanka”. Here is the link to his Fiverr account: https://www.fiverr.com/dasunmadushanka

To mount the parts there are holes included which fit standard 40mm long, 8mm or 10mm in diameter wooden bolts (very rarely also 30mm x 6mm if there was not enough room for larger ones). Due to the thickness of some parts of the model there only is one bolt in some instances. The part orientation is pretty clear nevertheless. So you shouldn't have any trouble gluing the parts together.

I printed the files as prepared, removed the supports and glued the parts together with super glue for the surfaces and mounting glue for the wooden bolts.

For this specific print I use mainly standard settings. So the thin parts at arms and legs are quite fragile. But when you have the figure in a safe place that does not matter. In case it is in an area where it might be tossed over you should change the print settings or add modifiers to make it more rigid. …

In the print set “D” there is nothing else but some wedges in the shape of the feet. The original orientation of the figure is leaning slightly backwards. So it easily can fall over. So I printed those wedges afterwards and glued them to the bottom of the feet to provide a more stable stand.

Also included is the uncut STL file … so you can scale the robot to your needs.

Enjoy
