##Update 5 Nov 2022 I have been using the grinder for a few months now and it's working well. However there are a few things to update. * I say below that no glue is needed to hold the pulleys onto the shafts. Under hard use this proved not to be the case. If a pulley starts slipping then the friction generates a lot of heat very quickly and that results in the shaft heating up and the hole in the pulley becoming enlarged - quickly destroying the pulley. A drop of superglue seems enough to stop this happening. * I have added a platten (a flat surface immediately below the belt to prevent the belt from deflecting). I covered mine in low-friction teflon tape and it's holding up very well despite constant friction from the belt. * I destroyed the original 5A PSU while grinding an axe. I now use a 10A one instead. Plans for a case for the switched mode PSU from ebay that I use are here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5599122 # Description This is a mini belt grinder, designed primarily for sharpening knives but also suited to general light grinding. * Uses grinding belts that are readily available in a wide range of grits * Quick-change belt makes it easy to go up through the grits when sharpening * Variable speed allows fine control of material removal rate (important for your expensive knives) * Reversible for optimal use with stropping belts * Tool-free attachment and removal of honing guide The full model is included in the downloadable files - making it nice and easy to modify the design.
