Mini Brain Gears

Mini Brain Gears

An oldie but a goodie. I wanted to learn how to do bevel gears in openscad, so throwing together yet another set of brain gears seemed like a good way to do it. Because my attention span could not handle making them at the usual scale, I designed a smaller version that uses 1.75mm filament strips as axles. Relying on thin pieces of PLA probably means it isn't all that durable, but it functions well thus far. I tried to optimize the design for ease of printing. Assembly was a snap, first-time go no issues. I initially worried that curves in the filament strip would adversely affect performance, but those concerns proved to be unfounded as everything straightened itself out in the end
