This design is actually a bit of a spin-off from my tiny tripod ecosystem:
https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/37671-tiny-foldable-tripod-ecosystem-for-different-actio

After I got my GoPro Hero8, I first added a GoPro specific part to the tripod ecosystem:
https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/39730-gopro-mount-to-tiny-tripod-ecosystem

Then I figured that for such a relatively heavy action camera, the legs should be a bit longer and the typical GoPro mount should be an integral part of the tripod base.

This way the whole tripod stands well on the ground and still fits into the typical action camera protection bags. Also the folded tripod serves very well as a hand grip for selfies and vlogging.

The legs are compatible with the original tiny tripod ecosystem, so you can use the longer legs there or you can use the shorter legs from the ecosystem for this GoPro tripod base.

The thumb screw is not homemade, as it comes with the GoPro cameras and with all kind of accessories for action cameras. So most of will us have more of these screws at home than we will ever need.

For whatever remix you may have in mind, I have also uploaded the GoPro connector part on the camera side (as shown in grey on the FreeCad screen shot in the last picture). I recommend to print it in the uploaded orientation (on it's side), which gives much better strength against breaking of the planes.

Print instructions

All you need in addition to the printed parts is:

Three M3x10 screws, which shall simply be forced into the base part. They will sit tight enough not to move when the legs are folded or unfolded.

One M5 nut for the GoPro mount. The nut will sit tight enough not to fall out under normal operation, but you may want to glue it in.

I recommend to print at least the tripod base from PETG, as PLA is not flexible enough to force the M3 screws in, it will likely break. The legs can probably be printed in any material, although I used PETG for them as well. On the legs, the upper part with the screw hole should be printed with 100% infill, the rest can be printed with 15% infill (like is done in the attached gcode).

The parts shown in the photographs are made from Prusament PETG black, printed on a Prusa i3 MK3S.

License:

The license does not allow derivatives, as one of my designs was “taken” from me in the past to collect donations on Thingiverse via a “Remix”, that did not add any significant value. That made me really sad. If you want to seriously remix this design, please contact me and I will gladly approve that.
