Mini Hexagonal Tension Table

Just a simple tension table. The top and bottom halves are identical. Pretty easy to print, but can be surprisingly difficult to put together.

Supplies: string/fishing line, super glue

Assembly with Guides:

(Note: I used super glue, but alternate string holders for tight fit are included.)

Align hexagonal bases with guides, making sure that the long recesses in each base are opposite one another (not mirrored).

Place 1 arm into each base. Tie arms together with string or fishing line, making sure string is taut. (if not using a guide, should be around 2.5 cm between arms, 3 if you're feeling dangerous).

Make three string holder pairs, each held together with string such that the string is fully taught when placed in the guide. Glue in holders. (NOTE: you can glue holders in first and then use a piece of string to tie a holder to the holder directly above it),

Confession: Honestly this thing was so hard to put together. But it looks cool I guess. I made my table slightly differently where I wrapped strings around the recessed section of each string holder and placed that half into the hexagonal bases first (opposite to the rendered model). It gives a cleaner look, but if a string gets broken, it will be much more difficult to repair.

Honestly, I'm just posting this because I'm proud I got it done, but it was so awful to put together I'm not sure if I recommend making it lol I'll probably make an easy assembly version if people want.

Also, this table can't hold much before one of the three strings gives in. Interestingly, if you put too much weight on the top (but not so much that the table breaks), the table will lean and try to remove the excess weight on top.
