Mini Nunchuck: Ninja Warrior Series

thingiverse

The weapon of a real ninja, the Nunchuck packs an interesting punch in any Ninja Warrior course. While this model is easier than the Icicle, its vertical surface nonetheless offers a challenge, especially for those with smaller hands. To make the hold more grippy, chalk can be applied to the outside. However, unlike the normal, 7.5-inch-long large nunchuck, this is a mini chuck--a smaller version of the same hold that only allows for one hand to grab. At only 4.5 inches long, this hold tests precision grabbing in a vertical orientation (unlike nearly all other Ninja Warrior holds available). A hold like this is rather versatile--it can be used for hanging practice and in courses. When hanging in sets (30 seconds on, 10 seconds off), the Nunchuck can help grow one's strength over time, especially when used in pairs. In a course, the hold can be used practically anywhere: in place of a cannonball, before a trapeze bar, after a lache, and many more locations. When placed at the end of the course, it can make a very challenging final obstacle (for those endurance courses especially!). However, as it is quite shorter, its higher difficulty level should be taken into consideration when designing courses. This hold can be assembled with a 3/8" eye bolt (approximately 2-3 inches long), as well as a 3/8" hex nut. The bolt can be screwed in from the top, and the hex nut can be slid into the hexagonal slot. From there, the bolt can be tightened, and the hold is ready to be used!
