Mini Prusa Dampers with Holes for Base-Mounting

thingiverse

I was designing an enclosure for my Prusa i3 mk2, and came across hofftari's mounts. I wanted to be able to screw them into my base so they'd be in the exact position I wanted it within the enclosure's walls, so I made some holes in his design. I used 4 #6 x 5/8" pan head screws. Put them together first, mark where you want them. Slip the inside piece out just enough so that the screw can fit through the hole on the bottom, and then slip the screw and inside piece into the outside. Make a hole in the felt pads and drive the screw through. Put the screwdriver through the hole on the top to screw it in place. I recommend drilling a little hole where you're screwing, so it drives in easier and straight down. *I used nylon filament, so I don't know if ABS/PLA will work well with the holes...leave a comment if it works out for you. **Note: After a couple months of use, I've noticed that the left side dampers have bent so much that the top side is touching the screw. The heat in the enclosure could have caused this bend, or it could just be a flawed design. Perhaps it could still work if a compression spring was included, you could use the screw to hold the bottom down.
