I created 3D printed miniature filament spools in my spare time while working on bigger projects. These tiny creations turned out adorable and colorful, so I decided to share them with the world. This project combined high-resolution and low-resolution FDM printing techniques. To achieve the realistic filament texture, I printed the filament at a layer height of 0.4mm, while using the best possible resolution for the spools themselves. The snap-fit design worked well, but since my printer profile wasn't calibrated between color changes, I applied a small amount of glue to a few of them. This experiment pushed the limits of miniaturization, and these spools are now too small to function as keychains.
