Miniature "granite" Japanese Lantern

Miniature "granite" Japanese Lantern

thingiverse

This is modelled on a traditional Japanese garden lantern. My wife saved up to buy a Rankei lantern, which this model replicates at just over 1/10th scale. The original is made in 6 granite parts which slot together. It stands 95cm (about 3 feet) high, weighs approximately 165kg, and was delivered on a small pallet. The model has 4 parts (five if you print the arm in two parts, as recommended), as it integrates two parts of the lantern into one, and integrates the little cap onto the roof. It stands 103mm high and obviously weighs somewhat less than the original. There are cutouts in the base and an internal channel through the arm to the lantern, to accomodate a 3V lithium coin cell holder, a tiny switch, and wire to a 5mm "flickering" LED in the lantern. The real thing came on a wooden pallet, so to give this as a Christmas present, I constructed a minature pallet to deliver it on.
