A remix of the excellent fume extractor by rdmmkr: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3474360 Update 7/8/2019: I will need to find a stronger boost board and battery board to handle a bigger fan. The boost board I have here is 2A which ends up being around <0.5A after boosting 4v to 12v. Most of the 80x38 fans are >0.8A. So, will probably need a >3.5A to be able to power one of those. Original Text: This adds space (14 mm) to the bottom for the addition of rear micro USB port, 18650 rechargeable lithium battery, lithium charging board, and boost converter. Overall, an extremely tight fit. Now my fume extractor can be used untethered from cables! I tried a much as possible to maintain the original aesthetic by rdmmkr. The main downside is it will much less powerful than rdmmaker's because he is able to use a 2.3 amp fan. Currently I'm using a noctua that I had laying around, but I'm looking into a 80x38mm fan that can be powered using my boost board to increase the power (my boost board won't handle 2.3a). The noctua can pull through one layer of carbon and suck the fumes if you're pretty near to it, but I definitely want stronger. Note, I revised some small things from when I printed mine. It gives 2mm extra width in the battery compartment, revises the holes that link the board compartments (under the fan) to the battery compartment, and adjusts the size of the holes that the brass knurls go into. I have not reprinted the model out since these changes, so please let me know if you have any issues. Parts: 1 - 80mm Fan up to 38mm thick. I'm currently using a noctua I had, but looking to upgrade to an 80x38mm stronger fan. The noctua is only strong enough to pull through one layer of filter. 4 - fan screws (usually come with fans. I had a bunch laying around) 1 - 3mm LED + Resistor. I used a pretty high resistor, just wanted it to barely be on so it didn't shine in my eyes while I worked. I can't remember the value but I think it was like 2.2k. Honestly I'm debating if it's even necessary because it's pretty obvious when it's on from the fan noise. Maybe I will wire the LED into the lithium board to tell when it's charging but that will take some surface mount soldering. 4 - M3 x 10mm countersunk screws 4 - M3 x 3mm brass knurled inserts: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/100pcs-50pcs-20pcs-m1-4-M2-M2-5-M3-M4-M5-M6-M8-Braas-insert-nut/32961915881.html 1 - Switch, standard size. You can use rdmmkr's original faceplate if you have a small switch (rdmmkr uses a 10x15mm). https://www.aliexpress.com/item/10PCS-Car-Truck-Boat-Round-Rocker-2-Pin-KCD1-101-ON-OFF-Toggle-Switch-125V-6A/32821816889.html 1 - Carbon Filter https://www.aliexpress.com/item/5pcs-lot-Activated-Carbon-Filter-Sponge-for-Hakko-493-Solder-Smoke-Absorber-ESD-Fume-Extractor-13cm/32712028409.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4dLbK0Wh 1 - 18650 battery 1 - 18650 battery holder https://www.aliexpress.com/item/5Pcs-Single-Slot-DIY-18650-Battery-Holder-Power-Bank-Plastic-18650-Rechargeable-Batteries-Storage-Box-Housing/32954781743.html 1 - Boost converter https://www.aliexpress.com/item/MT3608-DC-DC-Step-Up-Power-Apply-Module-Booster-Power-Module-MAX-output-28V-2A/32477478565.html 1 - Lithium Charging board: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/New-1Pcs-lot-5V-1A-Micro-USB-18650-Lithium-Battery-Charging-Board-Charger-Module-Protection-Dual/32786777105.html Micro USB Port straight back: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/10pcs-Vertical-MICRO-mini-USB-5pin-female-seat-180-degrees-jack-5P-Direct-plug-in-USB/32633184095.html
