Model on [Tinkercad](https://www.tinkercad.com/things/7mC9ZOprdHO) ## Features - Accommodates all wood pieces of the Base Game and one or both of the expansions "Seafarers" and "Cities and Knights" - Usable during the game (one organizer for each player) as well as for storage (organizers stacked) - At least one piece of a certain kind is reachable at any time during the game - Built-in card holder for a limited number of cards - Optional closed box on top of the stack for remaining pieces (merchant, barbarian ship, dice, etc.) - For 6-player expansions print 2 additional organizers ## Limitations - Tabs to connect organizers need to be handled somewhat carefully (see Post-processing) - Does not accommodate wood pieces specific to other Catan game expansions - Card holder will not contain all your resource cards during the game simultaneously, but still useful e.g. for commodity or progress cards - Pieces will stay in place if stack is tilted or inverted, however, stack as a whole is presumably not resistant to shaking or dropping - A full stack for 4 players will not fit in original cardboard game box, but two stacks of two organizers will (each with optional storage lid) ## Post-processing Tabs are somewhat fragile because they need to be pressed briefly outwards to stack individual organizers, which puts some force on the base of the tab along the more fragile print direction. This can be solved by printing the organizer on its side or thicker tab walls at the cost of additional (support) material. However, in my experience tabs won't break if handled with some care. It also helps to remove any excess material from tab extrusion (triangle shape on the inside of the tab) with a small file (see green arrow) and optionally file down the edge of the slot towards the bottom (see blue arrow). Be careful not to remove too much material or the organizers will no longer stick to each other and you'll have to revert to a rubber band to hold the stack together. ## Design notes - The card holder is only usable when the top two roads are removed, but that is anyway the case at the start of a game. - Wood piece dimensions may vary even within a game set: spaces in the organizer have been dimensioned to allow for this. If some of your pieces still don't fit, try rotating or re-ordering them. - Settlement and city pieces are stored upside-down to accommodate roads. - An earlier, simpler version of the model is also available that holds road pieces vertically, but is not stackable.
