This is a Mittens Blocker that's used when knitting mittens. After you are finished with the knitting you wash the mittens and then when they are drying you insert this blocker inside the mittens that will stop the shrinkage at the correct hand size. There are four files: - MittensBlocker-FullSize - MittensBlocker-Part1 - MittensBlocker-Part2 - MittensBlocker-Thumb But you can choose if you want to print: **FullSize + Thumb** or **Part1 + Part2 + Thumb** I just had to split the FullSize in two because my print bed was not big enough for the entire thing. The stl files in 100% scale is a size 8 mitten, which is quite a big mitten. ## Custom scaling But you can scale the file down to make it fit your hand (or up). One possibility to do this is to measure with a ruler across your hand (and add 1cm to not make it to tight). Then scale the X and Y axis for all stl files to fit. Like if your hand is 6.9 cm across, you scale the X and Y from 100% (100mm) to 79% (79mm). **6.9 cm + 1 cm = 69mm + 10mm = 79 mm = 79%**. You should also check how long your hands are from handwrits to fingertip. The 100% scale is 20cm, so if you shrink it by 79% you will end up with 15.8 cm instead (20 * 0.79 = 15.8). Make sure the scale you want to use fit your entire hand. If you need to scale the length different than the width (like if you have long but slim hands), it should not be a problem regarding fitting the two pieces together. At least not with the different scales I have tried to print out. I have also setup the different regular mittens scale sizes: (based on some mittens blockers I found that you can buy from a normal shop): Scale 100% = Size 8 = Woman L / Man M = 10 cm across / 20 cm from wrist to fingertip Scale 89% = Size 7 = Woman M / Man S = 8.9 cm across / 17.8 cm from wrist to fingertip Scale 76% = Size 6 = Woman S / Child L = 7.6 cm across / 15.2 cm from wrist to fingertip ## After print When you have printed both the mitten and the thumb. You can tie the two together with a string as shown in the image. This will keep the two parts together but loose enough to be useable. When you are using the mittens blocker and have inserted the main part just push the thumb blocker into the knitted thumb. You should also do some cleanup around the edges so that there are nothing that the yarn can be hooked on. I used a sharp knife and some sandpaper around all edges. Remember to print two if you want to wash both mittens at the same time! Enjoy!
