But I recommend printing the two redesigned R5 pieces new so you don't have to cut and take advantage of the side-way cooling as the fan sucks the air in an s-curve through the heatbrake. Best thing is that you can keep the stock noctua fan on the left. It is mounted sideways with the mosquito logo visible! It requires the fan shroud to prevent over cooling of the heat block. For best performance use a brass nozzle and PID calibration after installation and increase temperature for all materials by 5-10 degrees Celsius. Update: This was my response to comment questioning the cooling efficiency in the side way mount position. "Thanks for the comment. But I'm aware of this. If you check my design you will see that there is an air-blade in the design on one side. Guiding the air flow in an S-curve through the radiator as there are two different air pressures created. Don't forget its used with a much more powerful fan as the 40mm remains. I checked temperatures and the heat brake gets barley warm to the touch at any printing temperatures. I would argue that this design is superior because cooling surface is all around much greater and therefor much safer. Furthermore the hotend touches no plastic except the top mount part. Way safer than anything else out there!! Trust me I printed for days on full blast with this design. So if your printer catches fire it usually comes from a malfunctioning PCB board / power supply and or flammable material left careless close to the printer...and not the hotend itself! The fairy tale of instant 3d printer combustion into flames is quite frankly perpetuated by people who don't know what they are talking about! Scary actually."
