Model Thumper

Model Thumper

thingiverse

The Model Thumper is designed to help separate your models from the printer's build surface. Sometimes one or a few taps is just what it takes to coax the model free. I use a little brass hammer that came with some gunsmith tools. To use it, place Thumper on the build surface with the flat end against the model. (Note that the flat end leans back a degree or two, and that there is a little wedge at the base.) Take a SMALL hammer and give the back of the block a few taps. The oval pad at the back is designed to prevent you accidentally damaging the build surface. When the little bottom wedge starts to wear out, print a new Thumper. WARNING: You are responsible for determining the amount of force used in freeing the model. Update: I added a version of the model with Thumper's name on it (the file with capital letters in the filename.)
