Modular Button Base (LEGO Technic Compatible)
thingiverse
LEGO Technic compatible modular base designed specifically for 12mm push buttons. Compatible with a wide range of microcontrollers, including Raspberry Pi, Arduino, and Makey Makey. This versatile base comes in three variations: 3-button, 4-button, and 6-button pieces. Each piece can be combined to create a custom layout that suits your needs. The tight fit version works exceptionally well as a D-pad when used as a simple controller. I printed these bases without supports, which resulted in a few minor rough patches in out-of-the-way areas. If a smooth finish is crucial for you, supports can be added during the printing process. The buttons used are yueton Momentary Buttons (https://www.amazon.com/yueton-Momentary-Button-Switch-Toggle/dp/B0119FH5Z2/), which feature a screw back that provides secure connections. LEGO Technic pegs can be used to connect multiple bases together, creating a seamless and modular system. If you don't have LEGO Technic pegs on hand, I've found success printing these custom pegs (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2082001). This modular base is part of my ever-growing collection of Technic compatible parts designed for DIY electronic components. Stay tuned for more updates as new designs are released.
