Modular expandable mount
thingiverse
A compact, expandable mounting system for smartphones. - There's plenty of space to get creative with this design (adding more dimensions of movement). - Making it even more stable. - Making it even lighter in weight. This was a quick design, the main screw needed some reworking after post-processing (I had to cut off the knob and then glue it back into place after threading it through the g-clamp base). I've attached the *.STP file here so that everyone has full control of the design if it needs any remixing. All the parts are held together with M6x40 bolts and M6 lock screws (M6 washers as well) You can tighten the bolts until the linkage is tight enough. I would suggest gluing on a rubber pad to both faces of the G-Clamp (where it interfaces with the table/mounting surface), also a non-slip pad can be glued onto the smartphone holding surface. I used some random extension springs on the two ends of the smartphone mounts to keep tension on the phone at all times. There's plenty of room for improvement and experimentation on the design. Have fun experimenting!
