This is a modular rail system for launching hobby rockets from using motors from A to K in total impulse. Launched from big and small rails and rods. It was based on an original design for the MakeBeam 2020 metric rail on Thingiverse ... but has been adapted to the imperial 80/20 1010 rail and ... customized. I've added a second MakerBeam 1010 microbial for small projects and a mount for a legacy 1/8" rod. The next major addition is an rPi Zero W based WiFi streaming video camera with 12V HPR class remote launch system. Full system including streaming video probably under $100 in parts. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3430770 The basic configuration supports an 80/20 1010 rail - nominally 6' long. + https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001F0K4KA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It is mounted on a speaker stand. + https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07S74D9T7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It uses an adjustable printed 1010 rail platform as basis for an aluminum plate for a blast deflector. + https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2452870 I printed the components in tranluscent PETG with a middling in-fill. It has optional additional functions: + adjustable feet to tilt the rail for launch. Includes an optional mount for a bubble level to show the direction and degree of tilt. Has an HPR appropriate range of about 5 degrees. + addition of parallel mounted micro-rail for launching smaller rockets using micro-rail buttons - MakerBeam 1010 with micro-buttons - http://rail-buttons.com/minimicro.html + addition of a launching rod for legacy rockets with launch lugs (horrors!). + addition of a WiFi/Raspberry Pi based wireless launch controller with integral streaming launch video. Still in development but based off the interesting project on Instructables using a Raspberry Pi to make a telescope camera. + https://www.instructables.com/id/Astrophotography-With-the-Raspberry-Pi-Zero/ I've hacked the rPi telescope camera: + upgraded to rPi Zero W so it is its own access point + upgraded rPi camera to an ArduCam with upgradeable lens + upgraded the power supply to use a 12V input + added a digitally controlled relay to trigger the igniter + hacked the telescopePi software to add controlling launch
