Modular seed starter set

With spring coming up and lockdowns everywhere, why not dive into gardening! This seed starter helps you get started and even if you are a total beginner (like me), it is easy to handle. A detailed pdf with instruction helps you to build the seed starter, so you not only enjoy watching your plants grow but also have fun while printing and assembling!

Features

This modular seed starter comes in three different box sizes (S, M, L) so you can choose the right size depending on how much space you have and with two sizes of inserts for each box depending how much space your plants need. Because they are modular, you can arrange them neatly next to each other or even stack them. Perfect for beginners, this seed starter is self-watering, which means that you only need to water your seeds once with your funnel through the square holes and then they sustain themselves. Speaking of the funnel: All the tools you need are ready for you to print and the funnel, checkbox and pounder can be mounted directly on the seed starter. To close the lid easily (and satisfyingly) you can insert magnets during printing as an option. Once your little plants are ready for the wild you can lift up the insert and pop them out easily.

Detailed instructions on how to print, build and use the seed starter are available together with the files for you! So what are you waiting for? Prepare, print and plant!

Step by Step

Choose the size of your box (S, M, L)

Choose the size of your insert (small/big)

Choose your accessories (checkbox , funnel, pounder, tool rack)

Build your lid with acrylic glass

Plant your seeds

Watch them grow!

Print Settings

I recommend printing this with PLA and a layer height of 0.2 mm with 10% infill (e.g. gyroid). There are no support structures needed. If you want to insert magnets during the print, you can use the PrusaSlicer “Pause Command”

Bill of Materials

PLA (in different colours if you wish so)

Acrylic glass (2 mm thick) -> size depends on size of seed starter (dimensions in pdf)

Glue is very useful but not necessary

Magnets d8 x 3 (optional)
