This is a modification of MartinMajewski's storage/organizer system (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2780498), expanded to ~160x160 mm (that is, "8u x 8u" size in his terms) and made much thicker.

I have also added 1x1u, 1.5x1u, 1x1.5u, 1x1.5u with a middle divider, 1.5x1.5u, 2x1.5u, 3x.1.5u, 3x2u, 4x1.5u, and 8x0.5u Inlay sizes. The 8x0.5u and divided 1x1.5u sizes do not have the curved bottom.

I have also added a simple hinged, print-in-place latch. Print it, peel off the support, glue it to the case while the case is shut completely, then work things loose and open the latch, and cut the thin bits between the two pieces.

Snapping the latch open/closed is intentionally stiff/tight. If you can't open it at all, you're probably over-extruding or your infill-perimeter overlap is too high.

All of the original/unmodified models are included here as well, for convenience.

2020-02-18: Moved the hinges inward by 0.5 mm on each side. They still kept coming out. Added 3x2 and 4x1.5 inlays.

2019-08-28: Multiple changes:

It was still too flimsy, so I made the top and bottom thicker on all sides.

I was also having problem with the hinges popping apart while closed, so I lengthened the posts a bit and added edges to the sides of the top to force it to align with the bottom when closed.

My hotend has a fair bit of trouble with ooze, making the top half's hinges unprintable (with clear filament anyway, which needs to be super hot to look right), so I've created a version of the bottom with separate hinges. Those print in a better orientation and must be glued on.

2019-01-11: Brought in MartinMajewski's changes to the 4x3 box and made the 4x4 box 1.4 mm thick to match.

Print instructions

Category: Tool Holders & Boxes
