This is a modular VAWT that can be made on smaller printers. It can be stacked as high as needed to get the torque required for your energy production. This is a work in progress so things will change however at this point in time it fully functional. the hub should be printed with double thick walls and at least 50 percent infill the rods should be 100% as should the fins and the bottom bearing, top bearing should be 50%+. all of the project is designed to slot into each other part so its pretty fool proof. you can add glue if necessary. fins may need support depending on your print material. both top and bottom bearings will need to be "seasoned" run them for a while to break them in and then add a little bit of oil. power extraction can be done via the top bearing. i found the top bearing to be most problematic, had to run it with an electric motor for half a day before it was loose enough to move freely. video showing operation!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHLFTU9vK0I Print Settings Rafts: Yes Supports: No Resolution: .1mm Notes: 100 percent infill for fins, rods, and bottom bearing. 25-100 depending on how many layers for the hub. the rods should be a snug fit for the fins and slightly snug for the hub. add glue to these rods for actual external use. the top cap will have a choice of gears or pulley on it. this is how the generator will be attached. the bottom bearing simply bears the weight and allows the vawt to spin. if you have a better design for the bottom/top caps please let me know!
