Moen Cartridge 1225 Removal Tool

I designed this more as an experiment in precision reproduction of an existing part. My showers were all leaking, and being installed in the mid-90's they all use the Moen 1225 cartridge, which is easily replaced and/or repaired. Each kit comes with a tool that goes over the end and allows you to use a 1/2 inch wrench to break the cartridge loose. Without this tool, it is said you can break your vice grips before actually pulling the thing out, the cartridge gets so set in there. So if every kit comes with one of the tools, what is the point? Well, like I said, it was an exercise in precision reproduction. In reality though, as I looked at the system, it is very possible that in a number of cases just replacing the O-rings would bring the unit back to near new condition, and that would be impossible without the tool. Thus this allows you to take a $20 repair, and make it sub $5 depending on what you pay for the O-rings. I printed mine on a Mod-T printer. Because of my goal I did .1mm layer height, and 100% infill. I also have the model inverted with the wrench part on the base plate. I don't know if that was really the best orientation, and that is why I have STL files both ways. It certainly is slower! Let me know if it works for you! Print Settings Printer: NewMatter Mod-T Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: .1 Infill: 100% Notes: You can probably get away with thicker layers, but I would still do 100% infill, as you really don't want it breaking in there. You would then be in a world of hurt! Post-Printing No real post printing other than removing supports and a little cleanup of the normal threads hanging around with a hobby knife. Just in case the question comes up, the black one is the one I printed, the white is the original that came with the kit. Not that it isn't obvious, but I'm just being thorough. How I Designed This I used 123Design and a set of Harbor Freight digital calipers. I included the 123Design file in the downloads for viewing and remixing.
