Mold for heatblock silicone insulator (silicone sock)

Mold for heatblock silicone insulator (silicone sock)

I made a 20mm wide custom heatblock out of copper for my E3D v6 and wanted a silicone sock for it. As the heatblock is custom I needed to design and mold the sock for it. There probably aren't many heatblocks out there that a sock out of this mold would fit, but thought to share it anyway. The mold works nicely even if printed at as high as 0.3mm layers. To ease the mold release, use oil, vaseline or soap on the mold surfaces prior to molding. Also both halves of the mold have holes to be tapped with M6 threads and use bolts to mount the mold for releasing and pull other half with another bolt. This product seems to work very nicely for the sock (sorry, in Finnish): https://www.biltema.fi/autoilu---mp/auton-varaosat/jaahdytysjarjestelma/vesipumput/tiivistesilikoni-korkeiden-lampotilojen-2000036107

Print Settings

Supports:

No

Resolution:

Depending on the desired finish of the molded sock

Notes:

Print the top mold upside down.

Category: 3D Printer Accessories
