Molecular Shapes and Geometries Project

Molecular Shapes and Geometries Project

thingiverse

This project is designed to help students think in the 3D in terms of molecules. We draw lots of compounds on paper, but that does not allow students to translate the information to the real world. Break students into groups and assign each a different geometry and shape (some groups may do more than one). Each group will design a molecule that represents their geometry and shape using Tinkercad. The model must contain a central atom, terminal atoms, shared electrons/bonds, unshared electrons/lone pairs, and correct bond angles.
