Piet Mondrian, known as Pieter Cornelis Mondriaan prior to 1906, was a Dutch painter who played a significant role in the De Stijl art movement and group founded by Theo van Doesburg. Embracing a non-representational style called neoplasticism, he created compositions on a white background with black grid lines intersecting, accompanied by primary colors. His work was also influenced by Rietveld's Red-Blue Chair, particularly the 2D to 3D transformation applied to industrial objects.
